Water's Edge in Halibut Cove
"Water's Edge" is remote rental house located in Halibut Cove Lagoon across Kachemak Bay from Homer. It has trail access to the Kachemak Bay State Park Ranger Station, the Coalition Trail and trails to China Poot Lake and China Poot Peak.
The lagoon is a beautiful and protected place to kayak or SUP (stand up paddle board). For more experienced kayakers it's possible to ride the tide out to the Saltry Restaurant in the artist's village of Halibut Cove which is about 4.5 miles away.
The main cabin has two bedrooms- one with a king size bed upstairs and a queen size bunk bed downstairs. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans and dishes. There is running cold water in the sink and a portable solar shower available. The property also has a small cabin with a queen bed in one room and a twin bed in the main room. This would be perfect for older kids or another small family. We can rent you kayaks and/or SUPs (stand up paddleboards) The cabin access is tide dependent.
$250/night for 2-4 guests. Each additional guest is $25 (sleeps 6-8)
Water taxi is $80 round trip per adult and $50 per child 12 and under
Kachemak Bay State Park Yurts
There are 7 yurts in Kachemak Bay State Park to base camp at or do a progressive trip kayaking to a few or all of the yurts in the park. More than a tent, yet not a cabin, these round comfortable fabric covered structures are located in Tutka Bay, Eldred Passage and Neptune Bay. The yurt near Tutka Bay Lagoon provides access to superb salmon fishing. We can help you figure out the perfect trip for you based on your interests. For Cabins Bring: You bring your own sleeping bag, drinking water, food for dinner, breakfast and picnic lunch for your hike. Cabins have all pots, pans and dishes, washing water, propane and beds with sleeping pads.
For Yurts Bring: Sleeping bag, drinking water and camp kitchen. Yurts have mattresses and a wood stove.
